Description: 
At 659 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 7 miles southeast of Madisonville to 11 miles northwest of Metairie to 7 miles north of Reserve. Movement was southeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Reserve, Montz, Chalmette, Luling, River Ridge, New Orleans Armstrong Airport, Lakefront Airport, Ama, Destrehan, Avondale, New Orleans, Estelle, St. Rose, Killona, Woodmere, Metairie, Norco, Elmwood, Violet, and Terrytown. This includes the following Interstates... Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 198 and 255. Interstate 55 in Louisiana between mile markers 1 and 9. Interstate 310 between mile markers 1 and 10. Interstate 510 between mile markers 1 and 3. Interstate 610 between mile markers 1 and 4.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
