South central Eddy County in southeastern New Mexico...
North central Culberson County in southwestern Texas...
* Until midnight CDT/1100 PM MDT/.
* At 1102 PM CDT /1002 PM MDT/, a severe thunderstorm was located 9
miles east of McKittrick Canyon, or 14 miles northeast of Pine
Springs, moving east at 10 mph.
HAZARD...Two inch hail and 70 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to
mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
* Locations impacted include...
Carlsbad Caverns National Park and portions of U.S. Highway 62 180.
Instruction:
Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay
away from windows.
