Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of southwest Virginia, including the following
counties, Bland, Giles, Smyth and Tazewell and southeast West
Virginia, including the following county, Mercer.
* WHEN...Until 915 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is
imminent.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 602 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause
minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to 2 inches of rain
have fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Beaver Branch, Bolars Fork, Adair Run, Blue Spring Creek,
Blacklick Creek and Big Spring Branch.
Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
