The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Central De Baca County in east central New Mexico...
* Until 1145 PM MDT.
* At 948 PM MDT, a trained weather spotter water flowing over NM
Route 20 south of Fort Sumner between mile markers 37 and 41. The
water was up to 2.5 feet deep. Thunderstorms produced up to 2.75
inches of rain earlier over central De Baca County. The same area
received up to 5 inches of rain late last night. Flash flooding is
ongoing.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Trained spotters reported.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Mainly rural areas of Central De Baca County.
This includes Highway 60 near Mile Marker 307...and
near Mile Marker 330.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
