The National Weather Service in Midland/Odessa has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
West Central Pecos County in southwestern Texas...
* Until 1100 PM CDT.
* At 800 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Up to around 2 inches of rain
have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 to 1.5 inches in 1
hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, highways,
streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage
and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
mainly rural areas of West Central Pecos County, including U.S.
Highway 67 southwest of Fort Stockton and north of Hovey.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
