ALL OF NORTHERN, CENTRAL, AND WESTERN NM DUE TO STRONG WINDS, LOW
HUMIDITY, AND HIGH FIRE DANGER...
.Strong southerly winds with single digit humidity and above
normal temperatures will support several hours of critical fire
weather in the middle Rio Grande Valley this afternoon and perhaps
again on Saturday afternoon. Stronger southwesterly winds over
the entire area Sunday with very low humidity and above normal
temperatures will yield critical to locally extreme fire weather
Sunday afternoon and early evening.
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Fire
Weather Watch...which is in effect from Saturday afternoon
through Saturday evening.
* AREA AND TIMING...The Middle Rio Grande Valley (106) this
afternoon, Saturday afternoon, and again Sunday afternoon.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...Southerly winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to
40 mph today and Saturday. Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with
gusts up to 50 mph Sunday.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values 5 to 8 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
